Form Permissions

I have installed AFLite, and created a few forms. When I drag any of the Achieve form web parts onto the page, I get the following message: "Sorry, you do not have permission to modify forms".

Any idea as to what causes this?

Thanks

RE: Form Permissions

If you get this message within a Sharepoint Installation it means the user you are logged onto the Sharepoint Site as doesn't have permissions to create forms (within AchieveForms).

There are two ways to work around this.

The simple solution is to add a registry key into your Sharepoint server.

Open regedit.exe and find the following registry key:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\BWS\SPSControl
Create a new string value under this key. Name it 'ImpersonateDesignUser' and give it a value of 'adminadmin1' (both without quotes). This has the effect of making all your Sharepoint authors connect to AchieveForms as 'AFAdmin' (the builtin AchieveForms administrator account). For a small installation, or pilot program, this may be sufficient.

The other solution is to set up your user account with the correct form design permissions. Navigate to the following URL:

http://<sharepointsite>/AF3int/au/

(where <sharepointsite> is the URL to your sharepoint installation).

If you are prompted to create a user account, enter your name and email address, then submit the registration form. Once this is done (or if you already have an account), you will see the AchieveForms Browse Forms screen. If you can see a toolbar with buttons for 'Design', 'Fill In', 'Publish' and 'View Data' then your account will already have some AchieveForms permissions - in this case, you will probably need to check with who-ever created the account and find out what permisions it has.

To set up permissions, you'll now need to open a new browser window. Do this by starting another instance of your browser (rather than creating a new window from the browser you had open before). Point the new browser at:

http://<sharepointsite>/AF3int/an/

You should again see the AchieveForms Browse screen, this time not logged in (a login button should be present in the upper right hand corner of the screen). Press the login button, and log in as AFAdmin (using the password you chose during the installation). Note that both the username and password are case sensitive. Once logged in, select the Admin link (the hammer/spanner toolbar icon on the right side of the screen) and click Manage Users. Expand the public group and you should see your newly created user account. Click the + next to the account and you should see a list of user groups available to add yourself to (in a default installation, the only available group will be the Administrators group), so this will appear in plain text. If there are multiple groups available, chose the Administrators group, then press 'Add'. To confirm this was successful, return to the original browser window (that you opened on the /AF3int/au/ path). Delete everything in the address bar after 'default.aspx' and reload the page. You should now see the toolbar as per the AFAdmin login, which means your account now has permission to create forms. You should now be able to design forms using the Sharepoint Webparts.
